Vroom. Vroom.

We kicked off development of a new product last week, and in accordance with the current hipness in product development, decided to lock the team in a room, shoving jerky and Clif bars under the door until they finished.

But first we needed a code name, of course. So our bikin’ VP of Product came up with Ducati - “fast, lean, maneuverable,” he said; “expensive, hard to maintain, impossible to find spare parts for,” an anonymous wag pointed out; “meaningless,” I said. So there we go: welcome to Ducati.

The five members of the Ducati team (three engineers, one designer, one project manager) spent their first week in a cramped conference room:

Packed in to start

Dave sported the team hat

This was unlikely to end well

But then our crack Facilities team got involved, and found a way to cordon off a section of a new floor we’re building out - and now, except for the noise and the likely asbestos poisoning, it’s a sweet setup:

First thing you see. Uh-oh.

Well, that’s a relief.

Hmmm, this seems friendly.

“More pastel!”

All I need is my metal lunch pail, my hard hat, and the soothing shades of a Windows desktop.

The airlock is to protect us, not them.

Stay tuned to see the first deliverable from the Ducati team in a bit more than two months.
